I'm trying something very different and serializing my current science fiction short story, "The Outer Colonies" on my Facebook page .
This is more of an experiment at this time, but it allows you to read the story as it develops. Granted, it won't be the easiest to read since I'm adding sections on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's (around noon on each day). I've had some positive feedback, as well as a couple of emails about the difficulty of reading a story this way.
One issue I've quickly come across is the serialized version on Facebook is that I've had to shorten up some dialog and content to make it 'fit' the limited character allotment you have in each post. That being said, I'll keep going till the story is completed and let the readers decide if this has work. I know its not the first time this has been done using Facebook; and the result of that previous effort (by another author) was inconclusive at best.
I'm up to part nine and anticipate sixty to eighty 'parts' to this story in this format . So...in the end, time and your comments will tell if this experiment has been a success or not.
